About Us

Peter Platts

Born and schooled in Christchurch, I went to University in1973 where I completed a B.Sc in Human Physiology and then a B.D.S.in Dentistry. After graduating I headed off to the U.K. for five years where I worked as a Dentist, gaining valuable experience in sedation dentistry and oral surgery.

In 1984 a friend and I kitted out an old steel yacht with the intention to sail back to N.Z. via South Africa. After a couple of years on the yacht and getting as far as Turkey, we parted company and I headed back to New Zealand.

After locuming for two years I bought Jack Hayman's practice here in St. Albans, which we renamed St Albans Dental Centre. Over the years the practice has grown and in 2000 we built our present purpose built building to accommodate that growth.

I am married and have four lovely daughters and a dog. My interests include skiing, diving, multisport, music and the great outdoors generally.

Andrew Paul

After five great years at University of Otago I finished my Batchelor of Dental Surgery with credit in 2009.
From there I spent a year at Christchurch Hospital as a House Surgeon before jumping over to Australia.
I worked there for four years, split between a quality private practice and two days a week for the local Hospitals.

Hospital work has led to a special interest in Oral Surgery and Emergency Dentistry, while my private practice work has lead me towards high quality general Dentistry. I really enjoy Dentistry, working with people in an open approach to problem solving.

Having grown up in Marlborough, I spend a lot of time on the water sailing and fishing, but also enjoy mountain biking on the port hills or heading out to Sumner for the surf.

Jessica Winter (Hindson) (B.D.S)

I graduated from the University of Otago with credit, and moved back to my hometown of Christchurch to begin work in private practice. I currently work four days each week at St Albans Dental.

My aim is to provide quality treatment in all aspects of dental care, and I regularly attend continued education courses in order to keep up to date in this rapidly advancing profession.

Other interests include multisport, running and travel. I compete in events such as Coast to Coast and marathons, finding Christchurch a perfect training ground despite the earthquakes.

Sarah Norton

I graduated from the University of Otago with Credit in 2010 and spent my first year after graduation working in private practice in my home town of Oamaru. In 2012 I made the move across the ditch to work for a large group practice on the Gold Coast. After getting married in May 2015, my husband and I took time off to travel around Europe before moving back to Christchurch to be closer to our family and friends.

I am passionate about providing excellent quality dental care in a friendly, gentle and honest manner. I feel very fortunate to work with such a great team here at St Albans Dental Centre.

In my spare time I enjoy keeping fit at the gym, spending time outdoors and learning to play the guitar.

Dr Kristine Bettle

I began my working life as a registered nurse in the operating theatre before making the change to a career in dentistry. I graduated from Griffith University in Queensland 2011 as Dux of my class.

I really enjoy dentistry and love going to work. I have special interests in Cerec crown work and reducing a patient's anxiety through sedation. My experience as a nurse has given me a unique perspective into providing a caring and gentle approach to patient care.

In our spare time, my husband and I enjoy the outdoors with our family. Other interests include cooking, Pilates and learning German.
